Professional Tool Reviews for Pros

Two new Makita 18V cordless rivet tool models are coming with different power levels to match the job. Both brushless rivet tools can work with aluminum, steel, and stainless steel rivets. Since the tools hold the rivet in place, you can turn it to whatever angle you need to set it properly. An LED light on the front lights up the area when you’re working in a dark corner.

Makita puts a transparent mandrel catcher on the back end, making it easy to see how full it is at any point.

Ergonomically, Makita goes with a contoured handle, similar to their drills and impact drivers. What’s interesting is the apparent lack of overmold, perhaps to encourage you to use gloves.

The Makita XVR01 18V cordless rivet tool is the less powerful of the two. It uses a 25mm stroke with 10 kN of pull force to set rivets up to 3/16″ in one stroke for most rivets.

The Makita XVR02 rivets up to 1/4″ using 20 kN of pulling force. Its 30mm stroke sets most rivets in one stroke as well.
